CISO GUIDE TO BUSINESS EMAIL COMPROMISE
Business email compromise (BEC) is one of the most significant cyber security threats to enterprise organisations, with $2.8 billion lost in 2024 alone.

Of the more than $16.6 billion in losses reported to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Centre (IC3) in 2024, more than 17% were directly attributable to BEC. Losses due to BEC have skyrocketed by more than 1025% since it was first included in the 2015 IC3 report, totalling $17.1 billion over the last decade. Though the report showed a modest 6% dip in losses year over year, the IC3 data reveals no signs that attackers are moving on from BEC anytime soon.
