Dermot Williams talks the recent Google GDPR fine

This week Threatscape’s Managing Director, Dermot Williams, spoke with SiliconReplublic.com about his views on the latest GDPR fine to be made public. Tech giant Google received a €50m fine by French data regulator CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés) for failing to obtain adequate consent from users for the processing of their personal data for advertising purposes.

As news of increasing fines for companies reach the headlines, following the introduction of the regulation in May 2018, many are wondering how long it will be before other large tech companies feel the sting.

“Beyond Google, how many other firms and fines will be making GDPR headlines in 2019, and will European tech firms get the same treatment? The real news will be what comes next”
– DERMOT WILLIAMS
